Get to know Luxembourg

Founded in the year 963, the Old City of Luxembourg turned a rock into a legendary fortress among the most powerful in Europe of the 16th century. The 17th century saw the creation of the famous casemates, subterranean vaulted spaces for refuge during military attacks. Despite the dismantling of this spectacular defense complex in the 19th century, the most visually arresting parts of the fortress have survived and can be visited during your travel to Luxembourg City. The fortress and the Old City are listed as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1994.

We have gathered 4 different tours you can do during your free time.
There is a general tour that give you a good overview of the main parts of the city, and then other tours with the emphasis on some particular aspect of the city. One will guide you through the history of some Women in Luxembourg, another one will focus on the defense system and rampart and the final one focus on the green area of the town. Pick what you prefer.

And while you’re here, have a look at Luxembourg city through the eyes of Alonso Díaz V, a cartoonist who visited Luxembourg in April 2019
